Stormriders Charter
This charter should be read and understood by all Guild members. If you have any questions or remarks do not hesitate to contact an Officer or the Guild Master.
Stormriders is a World of Warcraft guild on the Medivh-US server. Our focus is building a strong raiding guild with strong relationships through good recruiting and teamwork. We are currently looking for members of all classes who wish to positively contribute to our guild.
Leadership – Officers and Guild Master
Currently the membership of Officers and Guild Master are filled and there is no expectation of change. Should we decide to change this method of operation the following requirements will be followed.
The following is a list of requirements for the Officers and Guild Master:
· Be Respectful – not only of the Guild Members, but of everyone that they meet in game.
· Willing to help – Help out around the guild whenever you can.
· Willing to listen – Help Guild Members with their problems and listen to new ideas.
· Communicate – Talk in officer chat and guild chat, communicating the problems and ideas that you’ve heard.
· Knowledgeable – No one knows everything, but you should still have a good knowledge of the game.
· Committed – Officers should be committed to the well being and advancement of the Guild.
· Positive attitude – Officers are expected to have a positive attitude in guild chat and with the Guild Members. Doubts and concerns may be expressed in officer chat or through the correct communication channels (e.g. forums).
· Officers are role models for the new and younger members of the guild. Officers should act as we would like all Guild Members to act.
· Abuse of the officers’ powers is not permitted. If you feel an officer is abusing their power, please inform the Guild Master.
To be promoted to the rank of Officer you must be nominated by an Officer and then seconded by another Officer. This will initiate a vote, with the final decision to be made by the Guild master.
Ranks of Importance
· Initiate - The rank of Initiate is assigned to trial members. This rank includes no guild bank access or voting privileges. All new members will be an initiate rank until the officers decide whether you are a good fit for the guild.
· Member – Restricted, non-voting member of the guild. Generally this rank is used for alts of full raiding members. Has view/deposit access to the guild bank.
· Raider – Full, voting member of the guild. A raiding member. Has view/deposit access to the guild bank. Also has withdrawal access, up to five stacks from certain tabs. Raiders must meet a certain set of requirements to maintain their rank.
· Veterans – Veterans are full voting members of the guild. Raiding is not a requirement of the veteran rank. Veteran rank cannot be obtained until you have been a member of the guild for a full year. Being in the guild for a year does not automatically make you a veteran. This rank can only be bestowed upon members after being recommended by an officer and approved by the leadership team.
· Officer –Has the right to enforce disciplinary action, up to and including gkick. Can also perform guild invites. Officers are appointed by the Guild Master with the approval of other Officers.
· Vice-Commander – Performs all of the responsibilities of the officers with the added responsibility of filling in for the Commander in their absence.
· Commander – The Commander or Guild Master may veto any action put in place by officers. The Guild Master reigns as long as he or she desires, and a successor will be named by all officers of the Guild only when the Guild Master has decided to resign.
Note that while the Guild has no formal democratic structure, the Guild Master and Officers will take the wishes of members into account whenever possible.
To join the guild, please post an application in the application thread on the forum. Before submitting an application we expect all potential recruits to have read the guild charter. Submitting an application to Stormriders means you have read and agree with everything contained in the guild charter.
· Visit the Stormriders’ website.
· The primary means of inter-guild communication is the forum. Use the forum to post your game experiences, screenshots, form an instance party, plan raids and check for news from the Guild Master, Officers and other members. Check it often!
· We expect our members to adhere to the forum rules.
· We use Ventrilo so we can talk with other guild members while in game. This speeds up playing and increases the success of partying. To use Ventrilo you need a headset with a decent microphone and the Ventrilo client which can be downloaded at www.ventrilo.com. Connection info for the Ventrilo server will be given to you in game or it can be obtained on the guild information pane in game.
· Another out of game channel for communicating is the Stormriders IRC. You can find more information about this in the forum.
Behavior
· It is expected that all members of the Guild treat each other with respect.
· Continuous use of so-called ‘leet-speak’ or foreign languages is not encouraged, try to use (standard) English in the guild channel. Bad language is tolerated, but if taken to excess or if members complain about it, the offender will be asked to moderate their language. Continued excessive swearing can ultimately lead to disciplinary action. Also bear in mind that our members come from different backgrounds and all ages, races and sexes.
· Other Guild Members. If you need help with item trading or other dealings in the guild, feel free to ask an Officer for assistance.
· Cooperation is something we pride ourselves on. We wish this tradition to continue. It is not expected for higher level characters to give up too much time to help lower level characters. However as a general rule, help is always appreciated and should be reciprocated.
Partying Raids and Instances
· Agree to a Leader. The Leader is the one who organizes the run and leads it as it progresses. Picking a leader does not apply to official guild parties or raids as the leader will be picked by the Officers.
· It is expected that all members of a party involving Guild Members behave in the spirit of the game.
· Loot rules must be established before the group gets involved in the coming adventure. Examples of Looting Systems are: Need before Greed, Roll on BoE, Pass on BoP, Loot List, DKP etc. Please discuss the matter extensively beforehand if there is the intention to use a “non-standard” system. Loot rules for official guild parties will be determined by the Officers ahead of time. As a general rule, Rebel Scum uses the Suicide Kings Loot List method of determining loot disposition.
· Members are expected to refrain from picking unnecessary fights with people from outside the Guild. However, should the behavior of an external person in a party/raid be utterly intolerable (e.g. ninja-looting, verbal abuse), all members are encouraged to stick together, and if appropriate, warn the Guild as a whole against these persons.
Disputes and Arguments between Members
· We are all human and we will, at some point, disagree with each other. All arguments should be handled discretely and respectfully. This means no spamming guild with insults, accusations etc. All arguments should be taken to private channels (email, PM’s, /w, /p) as soon as possible.
· If a problem can not be resolved please bring it to the attention of the appropriate GM or Officers as soon as possible.
· Under no circumstances are arguments to be carried on using the Forums or in /2 Trade Chat. . This causes more problems between Members and makes the Guild look bad. The same rule applies on IRC, Ventrilo or Teamspeak or any other place where the disagreement can be viewed publicly.
· The GM and officers have the final word in any dispute between Members.
We are not a guild that wants to police its members. We hope to use this section only rarely, but any breach can be reported to the Guild Master and/or Officers who will deal with the matter.
· The Officers are responsible for deciding how to deal with Members who break Charter rules.
· Officers have complete freedom of action and can warn, fine (as reparations, in case of breaches related to money or items), demote or remove Members as they see fit. Immediate removal from the Guild will only occur in the gravest of circumstances. If possible, the breaches should be discussed by several Officers before the more severe measures of demotion or removal are taken.
· Breaches by initiates will face a lower level of tolerance than those of full members; they may be removed without consultation if their actions make clear they don’t share the general guild spirit.
· The Guild Officers have the right to use their own judgment concerning anything that is not covered in the Guild Charter.
· The Guild reserves the right to change the contents of the Charter at anytime it is deemed necessary to do so. Agreement between the Officers and Guild Master is sufficient for such changes.
